How to Have a Successful Job Interview

First impressions are critical and you want to feel relaxed and in control if you're going to have a successful job interview. You don't have power over the questions being asked, but you can be proactive with these four aspects of the meeting.

Dress Appropriately:
Find out the appropriate dress code for the company. You should ask when called for the interview, or you can phone and ask the receptionist what kind of attire they wear at work. Keep perfumes and after shaves toned down and loud colors in clothing and nail polish should be avoided.

Be on Time for the Interview:
Being late does not get you on the right path to have a successful job interview. Your prospective boss will quickly question dependability if you're not on time. It's suggested that you arrive at least ten minutes early.

Show Interest by Asking Questions:
Prepare a list of questions to ask the interviewer. This shows your interest in the job and the company. You can ask about the normal work day for the job; what the largest challenges are that the company faces today; and what the next steps are after the interview is finished.

Salary and Benefit Questions:
If the company hasn't already made the wage known, keep this subject to the end of the interview. You don't want to make the positions only about money. Spend the interview time and your questions learning about the company and the job.

Before leaving, shake your interviewer's hand and ask when a decision is expected. Think positive, remember these few simple rules, and have a successful job interview.
